Fatigue Testing

Lord products have shown themselves far superior to conventionally welded, riveted, and bolted assemblies in their ability to survive cyclically applied loadings. In head-to-head comparisons with double-sided tapes and sealants, Lord Adhesives have achieved truly lop-sided victories of strength. In lap shear testing of 6061-T6 aluminum sheets, for example, Lord Adhesives achieved 2205 psi versus 44 psi for industry-standard acrylic tape. In tensile pull-off testing of powder-coated steel, Lord metal-bonding adhesive produced 450 psi, while the industry-standard tape managed 50 psi. In testing for cold (0 degrees F.) impact on powder-coated steel, the distinctions were even more profound: 106 inch-pounds for Lord Adhesive as opposed to exactly zero for the tape.
