The metal skin that is typically used in the fabrication of truck service bodies is commonly known as galvanneal. Preferred over plain steel for the resistance to rust and corrosion, this coated steel has many benefits for the truck body or trailer manufacturer and has been in use for years.

The greatest benefit of the galvanneal coating is lost as soon as you weld this sheet to the framework of the body or trailer. Welding burns away the galvanized surface and leaves a spot that can later rust, while distorting the surface of the sheet. Costly body work and sanding to fix the scarring and distortion adds hours of labor to paint processes.

The burning of the galvanized coating during welding also releases hazardous chemicals in the weld smoke that are known to be worker safety and health issues.

Our proven bonding processes have been used on tens of thousands of truck bodies by some of the biggest names in the truck service body industry. These manufacturers have taken thousands of man hours out of their process by eliminating the body work required to rework the problems created by their own welding distortion.

DTI’s Kris Coleman finds himself often making the statement: “Why would you buy sheet steel with a galvanized coating to prevent rust and corrosion, then burn the coating off when you weld it, then spend hours filling and sanding to hide the scars so you can paint the body? Bonding eliminates all of these steps and does it in a fraction of the time.

Our metal bonding products and methods are proven, our fixturing and application equipment programs are in place at dozens of companies making money and making sense for their owners.
